Job Summary

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Application Engineer. Reporting to the Western Regional Manager, the successful candidate drive sales and provide solutions to S&C’s customers. The ideal candidate is a driven sales professional with excellent communication skills and a good understanding of the Electrical Distribution market. The successful candidate will complete an 18-24 month training at our Toronto office and upon successful completion, the candidate will be based in Calgary.

 

Core Responsibilities

  • Respond to customer needs promptly by identifying applicable solutions, generating proposals, and closing orders
  • Prepare technical specifications and review external specifications to identify and highlight opportunities for S&C’s products and solutions
  • Lead tender submissions, in coordination with Inside Sales, Product Specialists, Engineering, and Accounting Teams
  • Train customers and distributors on S&C products and solutions
  • Maintain sales reports regarding district activities and results, to demonstrate that activities and outcomes align with business plans and objectives
  • Prepare annual district sales forecasts and expense estimates
  • Implement and execute sales and development goals assigned by the management
  • Possess and maintain an in-depth knowledge of product lines represented by the company
  • Conduct and attend customer visits and customer events to build relationships with key accounts
  • Conduct formal presentations with individual customers or customer groups
  • Maintain accurate customer data and activity tracking

 

Qualifications

  • BSc in Electrical Engineering, eligible for the Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation in Canada
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organization and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to demonstrate and complete sales/technical support and troubleshoot
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products and SalesForce.com
  • Ability to comprehend electric schematic drawings and documentation
  • Willingness to travel within Canada and periodic travel to United States
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Must be willing to relocate within Canada
  • Experience with selling engineering products and solutions is a strong asset
