POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the VP & General Manager, the Business Development & Technology Manager will lead ShawFlex’ regional growth mandates, and strategies. The scope of the role includes Multi-National Strategic Marketing, Communication & Business Intelligence (MCI), Branding, Market and Product Management, Organic Growth, In-organic Growth and the SPBP Strategic Planning Process.  This position will lead the ShawFlex Marketing, Market leaders, Product leaders and Technology teams to accomplish the team’s mission to understand market needs and opportunities, understand competitive landscape, position our offerings to add value to our clients, and equip our sales channels to stimulate profitable business growth.  This position will also have responsibility for leading Portfolio Management Office, New Product Development and New Product Commercialization.  In addition, the Business Development & Technology Manager is responsible for leading ShawFlex’ acquisition activities and fostering strong relationships and collaboration with other Mattr marketing professionals.  The Global Business Development & Technology Manager will also lead and coordinate the annual SPBP cycle ensuring alignment of Corporate requirements and timeline.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Market, Communication, Business Intelligence and branding strategies to support current and new markets, products and systems.   Marketing Communications (customer presentation material, website, electronic marketing content, social media, print material, product samples, and branding). Provide functional/technical guidance for regional marketing activities including market analysis, customer analysis, competitor analysis, promotional items, advertising, trade shows, and other marketing events. Recommend budget, approve and track marketing spending.
  • Responsible for Market and Product Experts.  The leaders work across all Global Regional P&Ls.  These leaders have the responsibility of global and/or regional market understanding, competitive landscapes, collaborate closely with Regional Sales Team to identify leads, customer concerns, VOC and commercialize new products/systems and finally collaborate with R&D on NPD, alpha and beta validation and product commercialization.  Market/Product Management also includes identification of product and feature needs, product business case development and management, cross-functional marketing strategy and execution, product positioning, value proposition development and communication, voice of the customer, and pricing recommendations. Research and provide strategic direction to bring new sources of revenue to the region. (New Markets, may include new technologies).  Develop and implement product strategies by market segment with detailed objectives to achieve 20% of revenue from new products.  (Current markets, new technologies to penetrate deeper in market). Develop and implement product marketing and market communications plans for all regions.
  • Lead the Portfolio Management Office, New Product Development and New Product Commercialization Based on market research, competitive landscape, customer requirements, Technology roadmap, R&D capabilities, technology/material partnerships and value added differentiated product development opportunities to deliver as a minimum the SPBP plan. 
  • Lead the development of global & regional strategies and the business plan for ShawFlex.    Lead company strategic planning and ensure timely accomplishment of strategic plan deliverables.  
  • Lead global ShawFlex acquisition activities.  Work with other Connectivity and Mattr acquisition team members to develop acquisition strategy, identify and assess opportunities, approach acquisition targets, determine synergies and valuations, develop integration plans, conduct due diligence, complete acquisitions, and effectively integrate into organization.
  • Lead communications activities. Prepare communications for a variety of global internal and external audiences including communications to employees, Mattr, and investors.  Provide functional/technical guidance for development of other internal communications including newsletters, videos, quarterly updates, communication screens, and intranet.  Provide additional miscellaneous support to President and other internal customers as required.
  • Support Mattr marketing programs and collaboration.  Play a leadership role in sharing lessons learned and best practices between divisions.  Support marketing activities of Mattr and other divisions in a proactive manner.  Participate in global marketing council activities
  • Perform necessary general administrative functions. Ensure proper administration; application of accounting controls, maintenance of appropriate staffing levels, effective direction and supervision of subordinate personnel, preparation of regular recurring reports. Monthly communication and special projects as required by management.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Applied Sciences
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA)
  • 11 or more years of experience
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Sales or Marketing Leadership Experience in North American Electrical Utility marketplace
  • Expertise in technical business to business marketing
  • Experience in international sales and marketing of technical products, Senior marketing experience in an international setting
  • Well-developed people and interpersonal relationship skills, entrepreneurial spirit, well-developed analytical skills in order to identify key customer needs from a large volume of information, and an ability to make correct strategic decisions
  • Superior dialogue and communication skills – written and verbal.
  • Strong customer service orientation and sense of urgency
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid passport and travel internationally
  • Able to communicate fluently in the English language (German, Spanish or Mandarin language skills are an asset)
