Reporting to the Director, Product Training & Regulatory Affairs, the incumbent is responsible for serving the end users by commissioning and servicing systems and products, principally lighting control systems. S/he will establish commissioning or service plan by studying system requirements and specifications; gathering components and parts as per bill of material; completing installation as required; programming functions and performing acceptance tests. S/he will also provide training to end users on operation and basic maintenance of systems.

Commissioning & Servicing:

  • Studies specifications, drawings, and bills of material for specific jobs for the purpose of integrating components into a system operating as per specifications;
  • Completes installation of equipment, components, and devices not part of the scope of work of an electrical contractor;
  • Services existing installations by analyzing work orders and modifying, adding to, or changing as per requests and complaints;
  • Conducts maintenance tests;
  • Trains end users on the operation and basic maintenance of their systems.

Quality Assurance:

  • Receives work requests, studies as-built diagrams, drawings, and specifications;
  • Tests and troubleshoots systems and components;
  • Determines root cause of failures of equipment to perform as intended;
  • Determines requirements to solve problems.

Field Work Organisation:

  • Plans for upcoming field trips; keeps tools and test equipment complete and in good working order;
  • Documents service and installation actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records;
  • Identifies solutions, suggests improved methods and techniques to fellow field technicians;
  • Recommends system improvements to Product Management;
  • Manages competing priorities in a complex environment;
  • Uses appropriate security and safety procedures.

Technical Sales:

  • Promotes equipment and systems to end users as part of a technical presentation in conjunction with Sales representation, specifically in highly complex technical fields such as Stage and Studio;
  • Supports the sales team by advising on techniques to achieve specified functionalities in efficient and effective manners.

Pre-requisits:

Education

The incumbent should have a diploma in an appropriate trade such as master electrician or maintenance electrician, or a College or Technical School degree as electrical/electronic technician or technologist, major in Stage and Studio a definite asset. A BICSI Certification and IATSE membership, would also be considered as assets.

Experience

The incumbent should have a minimum of 1-2 years field experience.

  • Ability to read schematic drawings; Visio and AutoCAD an asset.
  • Ability to utilize test equipment and hand tools to perform work.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Interpersonal skills to interact with customers, team members, and support personnel.
  • Ability to convey a professional image and deal confidently with technical problems.
  • Customer service, telephone, and verbal communication skills an asset.
  • Ability to work on a flexible schedule.
  • Ability to represent Leviton in a sales situation a definite asset.

The candidate will cover the Ontario region and may be required to travel outside Ontario occasionally.
