Technical Inside Sales/Quotations

Reporting to the Quotations Supervisor, the Quotations Specialist is a member of a small team responsible for providing product quotations and technical support via telephone to internal and external customers on a daily basis, with performance measured on Quotation Accuracy, Response Time, Technical Competence and Price Negotiation. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting Canadian and International technical inquiries and sales efforts. We seek an individual with professional telephone etiquette, practical knowledge of electrical applications, and an eventual expertise of the full range of HPS magnetic products and potential add-on components.

Suitable candidates are technically proficient, and can balance business and customer inquiries with a calm, can-do attitude and demonstrate strong communication and negotiating skills. Must have an eye for detail, deciphering complex technical specification packages and understand our product capabilities. To be effective, you must maintain organized, efficient, and accurate specs and documentation required by Costing, Engineering, Production Control, and Supply Chain. Previous experience working in a technical sales and/or the Electrical industry is highly beneficial.

Key Responsibilities

  • Primary liaison between the customer and internal departments & HPS facilities
  • Analyze customer requests ensuring proper selection of product type and quoteaccuracy
  • Preparation of quotation documentation with accurate, error- free calculations
  • Analyze specifications while negotiating the best price possible, within strict timeframes
  • Provide timely feedback and documentation of competitiveness in the marketplace
  • Produce & communicate quotations to the Inside Sales team & Regional Sales Managers

Education & Skills

  • Engineering Technologist/ technical diploma an asset, or broad practical knowledge of electrical theory, components and applications;
  • 2-5 yrs experience in a fast-paced technical sales team interfacing between engineers, contractors, customers;
  • Knowledge and exposure to Distribution and OEM markets is highly beneficial;
  • Proficient product application analyses to provide technical support;
  • Timely & accurate communication of technical information to internal/ external customers;
  • Strong attention to detail, time management/ organization skills;
  • Effective relationship management, strong interpersonal skills;
  • Advanced computer skills for efficient navigation of ERP/ order systems;
  • Solid experience with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word etc)
