POSITION SUMMARY:

 

It’s a great time to join our organization as an Application Engineer. This position has primary responsibility for providing technical support to the SICK sales force, customer and manufacturers’ representatives. With a keen eye this role provides evaluation of flow and analytical application requirements. You’ll define the correct product solution requirements; prepare customized quotations and proposals on price, delivery with regard to SICK products while maintaining a focus on accuracy. Engaging and collaborating on joint topics with our key divisional resources and colleagues in Germany and USA will be of highest priority. Frequent travel to customer site will be required in order to evaluate and solve technical problems. 

 

This role requires aligning needs with project, aligning needs with project management, vendors and manufacturing team frequently. Providing phone and quotation support to Inside Sales to handle overflow as required. Analyzing measurement applications and interface with our sale and technical applications group in Germany. Warehouse responsibilities with shipping and receiving; ensuring shipments are delivered in a timely manner, receiving incoming shipments and verifying documentation is accurate.

Other role functions include:

  • providing technical support
  • review client’s technical and commercial requirements pertaining to assigned products
  • resolve challenging measurement applications by liaising with international engineering groups across the world
  • creating price proposals from established pricing system or cost information
  • update, maintain and create price lists as required

Education: 

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Instrumentation Technical diploma from SAIT, NAIT or equivalent will be considered.

 

 

Experience:

  • At least 4 years of experience in industrial automation or related field required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a related technical field, interfacing with internal and external customers.
  • Must be able to demonstrate examples of delivering exception customer experience.

 

Job Specific Abilities:

  • Written and verbal communication skills in order to effectively interface with individuals both inside and outside the organization from a technical perspective regarding SICK Ltd. products
  • Ability to interface effectively with individuals at all levels within the division
  • Ability to make complex decisions in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to approach ambiguity with creativity
  • Action oriented, with the ability to drive for results
  • Strong understanding of the business, and processes to improve efficiency
  • Ability to organize and prioritize effectively
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Lotus Notes and Internet applications
  • Math Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide
  • Valid Driver’s license required
  • Requires exceptional written and verbal communication skills in order to effectively interface with individuals both inside and outside the organization, from a technical perspective regarding SICK products.
  • Fluent in English. Bilingual French speaking will be considered a strong asset
  • Knowledge of site specific requirements, industrial processes and applications will be considered an asset.
  • SAP experience will be considered an asset

 

Other Requirements:

  • Legally permitted to work in Canada
  • Legally able to travel to the US, Europe and possibly other destinations
