About the role...

The Divisional Manager - Lighting is responsible for creating and maintaining positive customer relations by identifying lighting product opportunities and ensuring that customers receive a positive EBH experience in order to drive profitable sales. They oversee and provide support to lighting staff to ensure efficient and effective Customer Service. The Divisional Manager - Lighting works closely with the District Managers and branch staff to support a productive sales environment. Some travelling may be required to branches and meeting customers. Driving for 4-6 hours per day.

  • You will be a leader in lighting technologies. Commercial, Industrial, Institutional and Residential! You will be passionate about growing our technical capabilities needed to support customers in the innovative lighting segment across Western Canada. You will manage our team of EB Horsman and Albrite lighting specialists as we tackle a variety of innovations related to LED, IOT, lighting controls, energy management and related integrated building technologies. 
  • You will be great at leading your team. You will have 10+ lighting staff specialist that will lean on you for your expertise and leadership. You will be the driving force in mentoring and empowering your team.
  • You will be a strategic planner. Create and implement programs for market focus/strategy that affect the efficiency and effectiveness of attaining the team’s strategic goals. Review, assess and report on strategic objectives and their performance related to group and corporate expectations
  • You will be great at reviewing and forecasting. Conduct yearly sales budgeting for all branch lighting budgets. Advise and work with marketing on all internal and external promotions of lighting products. Assist purchasing on deciding on lighting inventory to stock. 
  • You will be driving results. Work with Manager(s) and Suppliers to develop a sales plan for strategically targeting new and existing customers. Develop relationships and elicits buy-in with the decision makers for targeted customer accounts. Grow the sales of lighting products within the branch network by understanding the customer business and presenting the product features, advantages, benefits and application to both end users and the branch sales network. Liaise with projects group, Technical Manager(s) and Technical Inside Sales to keep up to date on sales opportunities and customer leads. Prepare reports analyzing key target account base progress and sales opportunities.
  • You will be customer service orientated. Create and maintain a positive relationship with customers and ensures they have a good experience with EBH. Plan and execute regular sales calls to key customers to identify needs or opportunities and recommends lighting products. Follow up with Outside Sales on conversations or quotes with customers. Provide or facilitates support for lighting products that are sold to customers by E.B. Horsman & Son. Facilitate communication between customers and suppliers to ensure that customers have clarification on any project specifications and to arrange joint sales calls. Maintain most current knowledge of BC Hydro PowerSmart, lighting products, industry trends and social or political influences and adjusts communication of this knowledge depending on customer needs.
  • You will be a lighting expert. You will be that point of contact for lighting specifications for customer projects which may include conducting lighting audits at customer sites and designing lighting layouts. Develop and provide quotations for needed customer project specifications. Reviews quotation logs as needed and follows up with customers.
  • You will be a team player. You will be required to work with our internal EBH team such as Branch Sales representatives to provide pricing, energy saving reports and product details for customer needs. Support branch Outside Sales with lighting expertise including building customized lighting packages that best serve their customer product needs and conducts joint sales calls as necessary. Collaborate with sales, projects group and manufacturers to target lighting opportunities on all new and ongoing projects.
  • You will be a trainer. You will be required to develop training materials and presentations for customers and branch sales representatives. Facilitate internal and external training sessions such as lunch and learns. Coordinate lighting supplier training from manufacturers for the branch sales representatives.

Who you are...

  • A diploma or degree in an applicable field (LC or BSc) or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of electrical wholesale industry sales experience or 2+ years of direct lighting sales experience
  • 2+ years of experience in a project management role involving design and quotations
  • Experience giving formal presentations and product pitches
  • Expertise in lighting is a strong asset
