About the role

We are currently seeking to fill a Business Development, Automation, and Controls position in our Head Office located in South Surrey. The Business Development role is a technical sales position that requires knowledge of Automation and Controls products and related systems. The Business Developer is responsible for creating and maintaining positive customer relations by identifying technical product opportunities, supporting customer needs, coordinating efforts with partner manufacturers, providing up-to-date product information and identifying solutions to any issues. The role will require delivering technical presentations and recommending the best technical products/application solution for customers. The Business Developer will maintain current technical knowledge through training courses provided by EBH and our partner manufacturers. Experience with Siemens Automation and Controls products such as S7-1200/1500 PLCs, SIMATIC HMI Panels, contactors, motor starters, soft starters, variable frequency drives and knowledge of competing brands (ABB, Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Schneider, Omron) are definite assets.

About you:

  • You will bring a desire to provide excellent customer service. Having an approachable demeanor and a positive “customer first” attitude will help with this role as you will be dealing with your clients.

  • You will be a communicator. Verbal and written communication skills are key components for this role for providing updates to our customers such as new products and technologies are introduced to the market.

  • You will have ongoing learning. Previous Automation, Instrumentation or Pneumatics experience is an asset, however, we will be providing regular product training to improve skills and knowledge.
  • You will be a strong minded individual. There will be times where you must be resilient and persistent in order to deal with challenges from potential customers.
  • You will be an outstanding presenter. There will be opportunities for you to lead presentation and meetings and influence the decision makers on the customers’ side.
  • You will be going above and beyond. There will be times when you are needed outside of Branch office hours on telephone or email for networking and relationship building activities. Traveling may be required.
  • You are comfortable with technology. Oversee the adoption of sales technology including customer’s relationship management (CRM). You will be working closely with information technology leaders to identify and implement new technologies and improve existing ones based on business needs.

You bring the following skills/qualifications:

  • A diploma or degree in an applicable field (ASct/CET/EIT)
  • 2+ years of related industry experience
  • 3+ years of experience in a sales role and/or equivalent experience in a technical sales position
  • Advanced computer skills including MS Office
  • Demonstrated proficiency with project management
  • Proven ability to form strategic partnerships, build relationships and respect cultural diversity
  • Ability to be inclusive, collaborative and respectful
  • High level of comfort with computer skills, specifically proficiency in MS Office and the ability to learn new software
  • Valid driver’s license and drive your own vehicle, as travel will be required
