Gerrie Electric, one of Ontario’s largest independent electrical distributors has an opening for a motivated individual to join our growing team.       

Wire & Cable Product Manager -Burlington (posted February 2020)

The Wire & Cable Product Manager (PM) will be primarily responsible for growing and supporting our wire and cable business across all branches. 

Duties and Responsibilities:  

-Support Gerrie or Bramtor branch resources to grow their overall wire and cable business

-Provide technical, application and sales support as required. This may be provided directly or in co-operation with our wire and cable suppliers 

-Generate or assist in the generation of product quotations or proposals as required by customers or branch resources. Branches normally generate these quotations but the PM would provide market information, if requested, to assist in winning business 

-Perform joint sales calls with our Account Managers or Branch Managers to provide technical, application or sales support 

-Assist branch sales resources in pricing levels to ensure profitable and successful projects or quotations 

-Explore and evaluate new wire and cable related product opportunities to expand our product and services offering. Present these opportunities to President, CMO/EVPS and Purchasing Manager for approval  

-Conduct surveys or face-to face meetings with customers to obtain insight on their requirements and utilize this data to prepare a proposal on how you would see Gerrie increase its sales of these products. This proposal would be presented to the CMO/EVPS for review 

-Provide or recommend technical, application or sales training to educate Gerrie staff on wire and cable products. This could be delivered directly by the PM or indirectly by an appropriate supplier 

-Remain current on changes to products or code changes and educate our sales resources to ensure we offer these to our customers and grow our business. 

-Assist in yearly wire and cable supplier planning meetings with CMO/EVPS as required 

-Assist in supplier sales and marketing related meetings with CMO/EVPS or purchasing manager as required 

-Assist and/or related promotions or proactive marketing activities in co-ordination with the CMO/EVPS and our marketing department 

-Provide market pricing information to our pricing department or purchasing department to ensure we have acceptable market level pricing 

-Provide suggestions on inventory levels and type of products to be stocked to enable Gerrie to grow our business and better support customers. These suggestions would be directed to our purchasing manager or CMO/EVPS 

-Advise sales force and purchasing manager directly of special supplier project or customer net into stock pricing to ensure success on other customer specific opportunities (or improving our normal into stock costs) 

Minimum Requirements:

-10+ years in wire and cable distribution industry 

-Sales or Branch management experience 

-Knowledge of electrical codes related to wire, cable and their installation 

-Must be computer literate 

-Business planning/or marketing program development experience would be as asset
