Weidmuller is a leading manufacturer of electronic and electrical connectivity solutions for the transmission of power, data and control signals in industrial environments. Our Klippon Engineering group currently has an opening at our Markham, ON office for a motivated Design Technician to join our team. The Design Technician is a key member of our Engineering Team. Working closely with their team to design PLC interfacing hardware to support our business growth.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Designing PLC interfacing hardware.
- Ensure designs complies with applicable industry codes and standards.
- Designs wiring diagrams, layouts, bill of materials and other drawings as necessary for assembly and wiring of low voltage control equipment.
- Maintain and update engineering documentation.
- Works closely with all departments within the organization to ensure that the drawings convey the correct information and are error free.
- Provide accurate documentation for each project.
- Effectively balances multiple priorities and takes responsibility for performance.
- Other duties as assigned by Manager.
- Ensure thorough familiarity with and adheres to all Environmental, Safety, and Security Policies, and performs their duties in accordance with those policies.
- Conduct tasks in accordance with applicable health, safety, quality, and environmental and security regulations (provincial/federal laws, ISO 9001) as well as Weidmuller policies and procedures.

Education/Experience:
- Diploma in Electromechanical Technology, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) Technology, Automation Technology or equivalent.
- Familiarity with reading electronic schematic diagrams.
- Understanding of PLC I/O interfacing.
- Knowledge of PCB layouts an asset.
- Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar.
- Proficiency with MS-Office applications.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working.
- Constant hand, finger and arm use.
- Occasionally function in activities involving walking, bending, squatting, and reaching.
- Ability to hear clearly and speak intelligibly.
