Position:        Field Engineer (Solutions Engineer)  Bilingual English/French Mandatory

Work Location: Remote: preferably in Ottawa or Montreal (pending on place of residence)

Reports To:      VP, Technical Sales – North America

The Field Engineer will work with the Americas sales team to technically differentiate Mersen to drive specification position and advance the sales process forward. This role will focus on strategic accounts and opportunities, supporting conversions, specification development, new product launches, and other pre-sale activities as directed by the VP of Solutions Engineering. The Field Engineer will be the technical solution expert, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of Mersen’s products and applications while fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders.

 Principle Duties and Main Accountabilities

  • Demonstrate technical expertise to adapt to evolving sales engagements.
  • Facilitate advanced technical discussions related to conversions, training, new product launches, and specifications as assigned.
  • Propel sales opportunities to the next stage by providing strategic support.
  • Contribute to the PAC process and ensure effective communication between Mersen and the customer.
  • Maintain a high level of technical proficiency and market knowledge relevant to assigned opportunities and accounts.
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with customers and partners, overseeing all technical aspects and offer guidance.
  • Plan and organize calendar for customer visits
  • Actively participate in the PAC process, translating customer insights into innovative ideas for Mersen.
  • Support new product launches and participate in trade shows and seminars through technical presentations and hands-on demonstrations.
  • Demonstrate self-motivation and a commitment to continuous learning, both independently and through formal training.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

 Position Requirements (Qualifications, Knowledge, Competencies and Abilities)

  • Proficiency in both English and French, mandatory.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • 2-3 years' experience in a technical service role or field engineering role in the electrical field, preferred.
  • Strong customer facing interaction and communication skills, capable of presenting technical topics to both technical and non-technical audiences at customer and industry events.
  • Self-directed and takes initiative
  • High learning agility to keep up with new products, technologies, and applications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical counterparts.
  • Innovative thinker, adept at translating field insights into new product ideas.
  • Up to 50% travel, often on short notice, by air or car
