Senior Manager of Standards & Business Sections (Electro Federation Canada - EFC)

We are currently seeking a full-time Senior Manager of Standards & Business Sections to work with EFC’s manufacturer members to help develop consensus industry position on the evolution of Canadian installation codes, electrical product standards and other related business topics.  This hybrid position is located at EFC head office (190 Attwell Avenue, Toronto, Ontario) and requires some travel.

The position will manage various business sections representing specific product categories within EFC’s manufacturing community. The main outputs of business sections include industry positions on codes, standards, and project work. The senior manager will also provide input into EFC’s general advocacy around climate change initiatives relevant to their product categories. The individual will participate in key strategic and technical committees related to standards development, the CE Code, and electrical safety.   In addition, collaboration with EFC’s marketing and statistics departments will facilitate the business section on requests for communications and market intelligence.

Electro-Federation Canada Senior Manager of standards and Business Sections

Reporting to EFC Director of Standards and Government Affairs, the duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Responsible for managing EFC’s business sections including administration, meeting operation, coordination and facilitation, and project management.

  • Act on behalf and represent EFC members on third party strategic standardisation committees (CSA, SCC, ISED, etc.) and with key industry stakeholders.
  • Lead industry responses in the development of proposals related to the evolution of Canadian installation codes, electrical product standards.
  • Collaborate with statistics department to facilitate market intelligence requests.
  • Collaborate with membership department to facilitate member engagement and section recruitment.

 The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or diploma in Engineering or Certified Engineering Technologist.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong facilitation, presentation and communication skills coupled with the ability to elucidate and convey technical details effectively.
  • An ideal candidate will possess robust project management skills.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and follow through on important projects.
  • The candidate should naturally excel as a facilitator and have the ability to develop consensus.
  • Strongl written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience with energy efficient solutions an asset.
  • Basic technical knowledge of electrical concepts.
  • Experience with CE Code or standards development considered an asset.
  • Self-starter with a curious and analytical mindset with the ability to be resourceful, find answers, and take initiative.
  • Result oriented with good planning, organization skills
  • Collaborative working style, open minded and flexible team-player
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including PowerPoint, Word and Excel
  • Pro-active and independent with minimal supervision
  • Strong attention to detail.
