Director of Manufacturing Operations

Today Omnify is building upon its core business and expanding into new market segments, manufacturing custom LED backlighting products for various top brands, such as Estee Lauder, LVH, Sephora, Ulta Beauty, Guess, Chanel, Michael Kors, to name a few. We also support leading architectural firms and our integrated strategic partners across North America.

The Director of Manufacturing Operations is a key position responsible for overseeing the production operations of two manufacturing plants located in Markham, Ontario and Riverside, California. This individual will be responsible for managing and leading the manufacturing teams, implementing strategies to improve production processes, ensuring safety protocols are followed, monitoring inventory levels, and collaborating with product development teams to ensure new products are produced efficiently and to the highest quality standards

Essential Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Initial focus on the production and manufacturing aspects of the business. Including, but not limited to; the floorplan, staffing, cross training, development of appropriate KPIs, efficiency, accuracy and quality of the orders.
  • Managing and leading the manufacturing teams in both plants to ensure efficient and effective production processes. 
  • Control of inventory levels to ensure that raw materials and finished goods are available as needed to meet production schedules. 
  • Developing and implementing strategies and Capex to improve production processes and increase productivity.
  • Ensuring that all safety protocols are followed, and that the manufacturing facilities are compliant with all relevant regulations.
  • Develop and maintain all appropriate department metrics and dashboards.

Production (Toronto & Los Angeles): 

  • Ensure team delivers products on time, on budget at the required quality level for the industry. 
  • Develop and implement plans within the production departments that improve overall cost, productivity, quality and delivery time of our products. Managing the budget for the manufacturing plants and ensuring that costs are controlled.
  • Identify and implement software and systems that can strengthen and enhance productivity. 
    • There is a full-scale ERP(Epicor) that is not being fully utilized. 
  • Encourage and develop innovative solutions and creative exploration to enhance our product and production processes.
  • Manage overseas production relationships and delivery 
  • Integration with our Customer Service Team / Project Mgt Team / Order Processing Specialists: 
  • Help streamline systems to reduce complexity and simplify the order/production process. 

 

Team: 

  • Lead, develop and mentor all direct reports; conduct performance management reviews and implement development plans; establish goals and objectives for each team member 
  • Develop the team's collective capabilities with a focus on strengthening operational talent within Omnify and our vendor network. 
  • Collaboration with product development team to ensure that new products are produced efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
  • Manage expectations and standards; support a fair and positive culture and professional development 
  • Work closely with the Customer Experience Manager and Sales Team leads to ensure an optimized customer experience.
  • Develop the appropriate training programs to improve the capabilities of the team to solve problems and develop customer centric solutions and processes.
  • Work with the Managers to help establish the daily, weekly, and monthly reporting structure.
