What you will be doing

The Talent Acquisition Specialist plays a key role in the ongoing development and implementation of sound recruitment and on-boarding strategies and programs, promoting diversity and equity best practices.

Reporting to the Director of HR you will be a highly knowledgeable professional with a strong sourcing background, providing expertise, advice, tools, and training to management. The successful candidate will offer support in the areas of recruitment, on-boarding, and reporting. You will also assist the department in all other aspects of HR.

SOURCING

Use various channels and platforms to actively search and engage with potential candidates, such as job boards, social media, professional networks and online databases.

Build and maintain talent pipelines by researching, contacting, and promoting our brand to colleges/universities, industry and alumni associations, community centres, social media, internet research, networking, employee referrals and representing the company at recruitment fairs and other related events.

Maintain and develop a database of passive and active candidates to ensure a steady supply of potential hires for current and future job openings.  

Plan, track, manage targeted social media AD campaigns.

Manage the website posting process and all other on-line job boards (LinkedIn, Indeed, etc.).

Prime liaison with recruitment agencies.

Stay informed on market intelligence and industry trends. Keep abreast of new sourcing techniques and opportunities.

RECRUITMENT

Partner with hiring managers to understand the business and proactively develop and execute Talent Acquisition initiatives aligned with and in support of the Company’s strategies.

Manage full-cycle recruitment for the company, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, reference checks, creating and negotiating offer letters, onboarding and orientation, ensuring timely completion and communication to all relevant parties.

Proficiently use all aspects of the ADP WFN recruiting module.

Evaluate resumes and cover letters to identify candidates that meet requirements and possess relevant skills and experience. Push resumes on a timely basis to the appropriate hiring manager.

Disciplined approach to interviews, leveraging assessments and behavioural interview techniques.  

Conduct interviews to assess candidates’ qualifications, skills, and experience.  

Keep candidates engaged and informed throughout the recruitment process to ensure a positive candidate experience.  Communicate professional closing experience with unsuccessful candidates.

Focus on streamlining and designing progressive recruitment processes, initiatives and policies & procedures that promote diversity, equity and inclusion. 

Assist with researching competitive compensation figures.

Coordinate summer positions/university/college Co-Op recruitment cycles.

Create and incorporate scoring matrices into the interview process to strengthen DE&I practices and ensure unbiased, best candidate hires including culture fit.

Provide monthly, analytical recruitment reports to management (ie. track and analyze data on recruitment results, applicant’s time to hire, turnover rates). Keeping organized on notes and records to be available as required.

HUMAN RESOURCES

Assist in all aspects of Employee Relations ensuring our core values are maintained.

Participate in planning employee engagement initiatives.

Conduct exit interviews and track data trends from results.

Employee relations, promote company culture and give a positive image of the company with all employees and candidates. 

Meet and exceed set objectives and department goals and ensure timely completion of all extra tasks as assigned. 

Analyze and report on recruitment metrics including sourcing channel effectiveness and time to fill, to drive continuous improvement.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite - Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. ADP WFN an asset.

5+ years of experience in a recruitment specialist role working in a high growth environment, including sourcing, full cycle recruitment, and building and maintaining talent pipelines. 

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; additional HR certification is an asset.

Experience in recruiting for multiple locations preferred.

Excellent understanding of provincial law, regulations, and best practices.

Exposure to various recruitment technology tools including applicant tracking systems, internet job boards, social media channels etc.

Experience in developing and implementing successful social media recruitment strategies.

ADP WorkForceNow is desirable. 

Proven record of delivering tangible results within a recruitment/talent role – build and execute strategic Talent Acquisition programs and support the growth of the HR function.
