Rexel International Projects Group is a dedicated sales and support organization focused on Global Engineering Companies engaged in large infrastructure project in the Petroleum, Mining and Power segments. We are looking for an individual with integrity, solid sales leadership skills, strong business acumen, and the ability to lead change. This leadership and management role is to define and deploy IPG’s strategic and business development plans for Canada, focusing on large capital projects managed by EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) Corporations. This role includes direct team management of the Strategic Account Managers across Canada and also to take direct responsibility of the Ontario sales territory.

DESCRIPTION

The ideal candidate has a track record of crafting successful sales strategies designed to deliver significant, measurable result and has experience in energizing a sales organization, achieving volume and profitability targets, and providing the team with the processes and tools required to achieve ongoing success.

Direct sales management background in wholesale distribution or manufacturing of electrical products, components or equipment is a requirement. The right candidate knows how to bridge communication gaps between different types of people and make them feel comfortable.

The Business Development Manager’s responsibilities will include:

Strategy: 

  • Develop the B2B vertical market strategies that targets business in Canada
  • Research and recommend appropriate sub segments / markets to pursue
  • Develop go to market strategy, while working with Project Management group on product and pricing strategy.
  • Development of sales campaign within defined channels to market

 Leadership: 

  • Define and transform the organization to vertical sales
  • Provide leadership, communication, and coaching to direct reports across Canada
  • Cultivate an environment of trust, teamwork, accountability and self-confidence

New Business Development / Sales:

  • Manage oversight of a national sales funnel to ensure achievement of sales goals and targets utilizing the corporate CRM
  • Manage own sales territory in Ontario
  • Research new opportunities / prospects using all means available
  • Manage key negotiations with internal and external Customers

Applicants should also have the following qualifications/skills:

  • College degree, post secondary education or technical school training or equivalent education and experience preferred
  • Minimum 5 - 10 years sales experience with senior-level professional and a proven track record of achieving results within wholesale distribution and Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) markets
  • Experience building senior level relationships internal and external to the organization
  • Proven leader – demonstrates a high level of diplomacy, ability to negotiate, make difficult decisions, influence others and manage change
  • Extremely organized with solid time management skills
  • Strong Communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, is a team player, and works well with a variety of individuals in a cross-functional capacity
  • Takes a proactive approach and is solutions-oriented
  • Flexible and can manage multiple projects/priorities simultaneously
  • High degree of professionalism with a strong sense of urgency and the drive to get results
  • Strong business and financial acumen and electrical product knowledge, including lighting, switchgear, controls, cable and electrical commodities is required.
  • Construction project sales experience with in one or more of the following segments: Oil and Gas, Metals and Mining, Power, or Industrial Process/manufacturing
  • Entrepreneurial – able to work and succeed  independently
  • Influencing skills
  • Flexible attitude – work in multi-cultural and (at times) political environment
  • Comfortable coordinating and working with a global team to close business opportunities
  • Experience in direct management and in a matrix management
  • Multi-tasking Skills and proficiency in various Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook, Excel and Word  
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (up to 30%)
