What you will be doing

This position oversees training and development for employees at Gerrie Electric across all branches.

TRAINING AND FACILITATION

Training requirements are based on employee needs, input from Directors, Branch/Resource Managers or Executive.

Where/when necessary, prepare and provide training to all employees either in the Training Facility at Head Office, at a Branch location, or virtually through TEAMS. 

Upload and maintain training library on company intranet to ensure all staff have access to materials, instruction and tips.

Obtain site training links from vendors, and maintain training library for product training on the company intranet. Set up Administrator privileges for outside training sites, download monthly training and log in ADP. Maintain and update monthly reports for Managers, Directors and Executive.

Ensure all new employees are given the basic requirements of training when hired including Orientation Training in conjunction with HR, Microsoft Office, SharePoint and job functions.

Stay current with all Health and Safety standards and Ministry requirements and collaborate with the Director of HR as required.

Coordinate and Schedule Health and safety training and conduct as required. 

Coordinate and Schedule Fork Lift Theory and Practical Evaluation through OSG, Coordinate and Schedule First Aid Training, through Code Blue First Aid. Log all training, upload certificates and maintain to ensure continuity. 

Participate in Continuous Improvement Projects. Prepare and maintain training materials for CI.

Responsible for on-going training of all employees so as to promote and ensure the smooth, efficient and profitable running of the Branch Operations, DC and Head Office functions.

Owns the logging, records and controls of all Training and Assessments. Log all training and prepare monthly reports. Reports to be available to all managers through the company intranet.

Prepare updates monthly for the Branch Manager meeting in conjunction with the ISO Coordinator.

Watch for repetitive trends to identify training needs from “How To” staff inquiries, IT Department or ISO Coordinator.

Handle and deal with inbound daily system process inquiries in conjunction with the ISO Coordinator. Determine if the inquiry requires specific training or potential ERP issue. Schedule as required.

Conduct assessments following training to ensure employee is competent on material trained and adjust accordingly. 

Provide continuous improvement training and facilitation through the use of available project tools: Value Stream Mapping, 6Sigma, Blitzes and other problem-solving techniques (i.e., Deming Standard of Plan, Do, Check, Act and Fishbone, Parato analysis, etc), and soft skills.

In collaboration with the Director of HR Participate in identifying career paths based on competencies for employees, and develop training based on the gap.

Provide training for root cause analysis for any customer complaints as required.

COMPANY ERP SYSTEM

ERP Breakdowns – provide training as required for alternate processes/work arounds. Based on input from ISO Coordinator.

Ensure all new employees are given the basic requirements of training when hired, on the ERP system and process flows, ISO Quality Manual and System, and tools/equipment. Liaise with ISO coordinator, EVP Operations.

ERP updates: Coordinate testing groups and processes to be tested by working with IT, consultants and ERP One. Maintain a log of completion and sign off for testing completion.

Roll out training as related to ERP changes, enhancements and upgrades.

ERP Customization: Work with IT and/or consultants to thoroughly test any customizations. 

ERP Updates/Customization: Work with ISO Coordinator to ensure all procedures, process flows, training documents are revised to reflect the change.

Create and maintain a team atmosphere and ensure employee concerns are resolved promptly.

Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.

Participate in conferences, seminars, and other educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintain and participate in professional networks to enhance your knowledge and skills. 

Participates on committees and special projects as requested. 

What you bring to the table

Bachelor’s degree or College Diploma in an HR Training related field.

3+ Years experience with adult learners

Excellent knowledge of adult learning theories, learning designs and delivery and capability development.

Experience in industrial settings is an asset.

Knowledge of OHS Legislation
