What you will be doing

This position is primarily responsible for supervising and solving problems at the branch level. Assist with Purchasing, maintaining inventory levels, order desk and counter. The role also involves instructing and advising staff as required.

SUPERVISE

Deal with customer questions and concerns in a timely fashion

Deal with employee questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner

Ensure all Gerrie documented procedures are adhered to

Inform Manager of any problems immediately

Handle all aspects of the branch as required when the manager is absent 

PURCHASING    

Prepare and issue purchase orders

Provide feedback on market conditions

Review and ensure backorders are filled

Transfer material from other branches as required

Deal with vendors in a professional manner

INVENTORY CONTROL 

Review count variances and either investigate or approve an investigation

As determined by the Branch Manager, review insight levels and provide feedback to Branch Manager and Central Purchasing Manager

Review stock regularly for damage and obsolescence

Review branch defective stock, watching for repetitive trends, and control the Head Office defective returns

SALES   

Provide price, stock and delivery information as required

Handle customer orders as required

Treat customers in a professional manner, with a positive attitude, and provide good 

Customer service

Expedite orders when necessary so as to maintain a high level of Customer Service

Ensure staff adhere to the Gerrie commitment of “Quality Service”

Provide technical and process assistance to all order desk and counter staff Assigned  to their branch

Ensure company specials are promoted by the order desk and counter and fully displayed

Ensure Counter displays are neat, organized and current

Assist Manager with the preparation annual planning and budgeting

OUTSIDE SALES

Call on assigned accounts 

Explore avenues where the potential to increase sales exists

Inform customers of specials and promotions

QUALITY           

In the absence of a Manager, will be the Quality Representative for the branch

Ensure the criteria in the “Branch Inspection Report” are adhered to and follow up when not in compliance

Ensure charting is complete and accurate

VENDOR

Deal with vendors in a professional manner

Promote the company in positive manner 

Do not play one vendor off against the other

Maintain scheduled appointments and see vendors at the scheduled appointment time

Maintain and develop strong vendor relationships

GENERAL         

Assist/ensure the overall smooth operation of all functions within the branch

Ensure all credits are entered in a prompt manner and are initialed

Ensure daily deposits are made and cash submittal form is initialed

Ensure the timely completion of any/all extra tasks as assigned by Branch Manager or the Executive

Enter, maintain, control and review contracts and special pricing agreements

Prepare, organize and control projects/quotations and direct shipments

Prepare staff  time sheets or cards in the absence of the manager

Maintain confidentiality of information

What you bring to the table

Post secondary education in electrical/business

5+ years experience in the electrical distribution industry

Relevant experience is an asset.
