Weidmuller is a leading manufacturer of electronic and electrical connectivity solutions for the transmission of power, data and control signals in industrial environments. We currently have an opening at our Markham headquarters for a motivated Human Resources Manager to join our team. The Human Resources Manager is the go to person for all employee related topics from recruitment, training and development, safety to payroll. They will also be developing and implementing HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

Employee Relations:

  • Provide support to all levels of management on all HR related matters including but not limited to the following: employment legislation, performance management, maintenance of employment records, difficult conversations, policy interpretation & communication and all terminations.
  • Respond to employee relations issues in the workplace and work effectively with all parties involved to address and resolve issues including leading all workplace investigations.
  • Ensure that all guidance, decisions making and solutions offered will be in accordance to all applicable employment legislations as well as internal policies, processes and procedures and ensure the best interest of both the company and its employees have been taken into account.

Recruitment:

  • Oversee the full cycle recruitment process from selection to onboarding.
  • Creation and maintenance of practical job descriptions that can be used for multiple platforms such as postings, and performance reviews.
  • Compile HR metrics (turn over, head count) analyzing, reporting and identifying emerging trends with recruitment practices.

Training & Organizational Development:

  • Coordinate annual performance reviews with departmental supervisors/managers.
  • Assist with Succession Planning and Individual Development Planning initiatives for continuous development of the high performing employees.
  • Drive change management for the organization to continuously develop our corporate culture by leading & supporting all employee wellness & engagement initiatives, such as the suggestion program, employee satisfaction surveys, CSR initiatives and Employee Social Events.

Payroll/Benefits Administration:

  • Oversee administration of the employee payroll, benefits and pension plan, including but not limited to; enrolment, updates and terminations; tracking and monitoring any STD/LTD/WSIB related claims; liaise with benefits providers for plan renewals and responding to employee benefit inquiries.
  • Stay current on trending compensation, employee benefits/perks and HR related trends to ensure industry competitiveness.
  • Year-end payroll documentation

Reports for Accounting:

  • Provide payroll details for each payroll to the Accounting department for entering into the system.
  • Prepare a monthly report for vacation accrual.

Administration/Safety:

  • Review all HR & Administrative documentation for accuracy, consistency and relevance to business processes.
  • Lead the Joint Health and Safety Committee to ensure health and safety training is provided to staff and compliance is maintained.
  • Work with JHSC to ensure all COVID screening protocols and procedures with regards to onsite visitors are staff are kept current and updated according to the Ministry of Health and local public health unit guidelines.
  • Responsible for implementing and ensuring adherence to HR policies & procedures that include but not limited to Anti-Harassment, Privacy, Conflict of Interest, Occupational/workplace Health and Safety, Drugs and Alcohol, Accessibility (AODA), Workplace Violence and Harassment.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance.
  • Ensure thorough familiarity with and actively adheres to all Environmental, Safety, and Security Policies and performs their duties in accordance with those policies.
  • Conduct tasks in accordance with applicable health, safety, quality, and environmental and security regulations (provincial/federal laws, ISO 9001) as well as Weidmuller policies and procedures.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills written and verbal (French is an asset).
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exemplary organizational skills with an ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work well under pressure with deadlines and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • A self-starter with a demonstrated ability to work both in a team environment and independently.
  • Detail oriented, keen to learn, motivated with a positive attitude.
  • Proven leadership, coaching and training skills.
  • Fluent in English (read, written, speak), be comfortable communicating across functions and with different levels.

Educational & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Human Resource or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years working experience in Human Resources.
  • CHRP designation or working towards.
  • Experience with payroll and JHSC.
  • Proficiency with MS-Office applications.

Working conditions:

  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods while working.
  • Constant hand, finger and arm use.
  • Frequent function in activities involving walking, bending, squatting, and reaching.
  • Ability to hear clearly and speak intelligibly.
  • Exposures encountered, loud noise, heat/cold, demanding clients and high stress.
  • Physical effort/lifting, light - up to 30 pounds.
